About this Project

Background

The European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) is responsible for implementing the EU Space Programme, as established by Regulation (EU) 2021/696 (available here).

The EU Space Programme provides a range of space-based services, including Earth Observation (EO) through its flagship programme Copernicus, which can significantly strengthen humanitarian efforts. By leveraging satellite data, anticipatory humanitarian action—acting before a disaster strikes—becomes possible, enhancing preparedness, coordination, and resource allocation in crisis situations.

About the Platform

Within the scope of its market development initiatives, the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) demonstrates user-oriented capabilities of the EU Space Programme to support anticipatory humanitarian action.

This platform provides users with an interactive, hands-on experience, showcasing how EU Space data can be applied for anticipation and preparedness in real-world humanitarian scenarios. It supports NGOs, humanitarian organizations, and decision-makers in exploring and testing geospatial tools for disaster risk reduction.

Objective

The objective of this platform is to demonstrate the value of EU Space data in a user-friendly, interactive environment. Focused on anticipatory humanitarian action, it enables users to visualize, manipulate, and explore geospatial data relevant to crises and emergencies.
